Employee marketing. To promote its involvement in the current film, “Up in the Air,” Hilton Hotels held a contest for employees asking them to submit stories of what they did to satisfy guests. Winners won trips to the movie’s premier.

Print is alive and well. Supporting a recent article in this blog about the continued value of print communications, Zappos.com, an online retailer, reported recently to the New York Times that it generated a positive response sending out print catalogs to lapsed customers.

Create a game about your product. Want to engage your audience in a unique way. Create a game about your brand. The agency for REO Speedwagon, a band, created a video game to help promote a new album. According to the New York Times article by Stuart Elliott, the downloadable game included coupons and sweepstakes, and is being distributed free on Web sites popular with gamers.
